The Henry Arthur Callis Scholarship is awarded to high achieving high school seniors in the Washington, DC area with financial need. The Scholarship Fund was established in the 1960s with a lead gift of $5,000 by Dr. Henry Arthur Callis, a physician, professor, and founder of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

The Mu Lambda Foundation Board of Directors program is primarily for graduating participants of the Callis Academy at Ballou High School in Washington, DC.
The eligible educational pursuits for scholarship awards include enrolling: in community college, a four-year academic institution, or a technical education program (including but not limited to computer programming, construction trade skills, and medical or dental assistance programs).
Applicants must complete an application including their most recent transcript and Grade Point Average (GPA).
Applicants must be a graduating senior, or previous recipient of the scholarship seeking renewal.
Applicant must be accepted/enrolled/matriculated for a fall or winter program of study.
Applicants must provide an essay which includes a description of their educational plans following High School.
